This fine gauntlet is from a late Gothic armor made with an armlet. The one-piece cuff displays the finest hammer work resulting in an elegant three-dimensional form that flows into the thumb and metacarpal plates beyond the anthropomorphic knuckle plate. Articulation for the fingers is achieved with five hinged ribbed plates. Armors of this type are exceedingly rare with most surviving examples in Italian museums. This gauntlet ranks among the finest of elements for these armors.
